Shirley House

Shirley House is a Residential Children’s Home, which cares for young people from the age of 10– 18 years of age. It can provide care for up to 4 children this includes a transitional suite for 16+ years. 

We want our children and young people to feel safe and secure, so they can blossom into their true selves within a homely environment filled with care and positivity. 

Location

 Shirley House is situated in the town of Shirley in the metropolitan borough of Solihull. Shirley is a bustling town with a variety of shops, cafes, delicatessens’ and various other amenities. There are doctors, dentists and opticians all within in a walking distance. There are youth clubs, cadets, local parks, golf clubs, cinemas, bowling alleys along with several retail shops, banks and post offices to meet all the homes needs. There are churches, mosques and synagogue’s all within a short distance of the home. There are 3 professional football teams all within Birmingham both Solihull Moors and Birmingham city being the closer of the three to Shirley house. 

Layout of Shirley House 

The home has been stripped back to brick and completely renovated. The front of the home has electric gated access with trees at the front for some privacy from the main road. There is a wrap around driveway leading to the back garden where there will be parking for up to 5 cars. The front of the home has a porch-way leading to the front door. The home is a beautiful detached property over three floors which has been fully refurbished throughout. There are two spacious lounges to the left hand side one of which has patio doors leading to a decking area and back garden. Adjacent to this is a fully fitted kitchen with access to a utility room. On the right hand side there is a dining room which seats up to 8 people and a downstairs WC. First floor compromises two spacious young peoples bedrooms a family sized bathroom which includes a shower and a bath. This floor has two staff sleeping in rooms with a separate shower and toilet. 

The staff office is also located on this floor. The third floor has a young persons bedroom and bathroom which includes a shower room and toilet. In the back garden there is a bungalow which will be used as a transition suite for a young person who will be looking to transition to semi independent or to their own property or even back to their family 

At the rear of the garden there is a cabin which offers our young people an adaptable space to relax, watch movies, gaming, have therapy or have a chill-out time. The garden is a large space for the young people to play and have activities, and we also have an allotment patch where young people can grow their own vegetables and herbs.
